McRunnerette
"Running on Fast Food"
July 20, 2011
When I first heard of McRunner, I was immediately intrigued! Several of my running friends forwarded me his information, commenting on how he was the male version of me – a runner that loved McDonald’s and running (only he is much faster than me!) After reading his blog and Facebook page, I was fascinated! I couldn’t believe there was another runner out there that shared my same passions. So, one night after walking to the local McDonalds with my four month old daughter, I decided to contact him and tell him how much I admired him and what he had accomplished. We emailed back and forth, compared stories and ultimately I asked him if he would like to take a “running wife.” To my delight, he said “yes” and McRunnerette was born! I am very excited to carry on his challenge.
I can’t break McRunner’s time but I will break his McDonald’s record! I will eat only McDonalds for the 31 days prior to running the Long Beach Marathon on October 9, 2011 and will raise money for the Ronald McDonald House while doing so. My hope is to PR as well with a time under 3 hours and 34 minutes, with a stretch goal to break 3 ½ hours.
I will be eating a variety of items at McDonalds, especially my favorites -- Cheeseburgers, Chicken Nuggets and French Fries. While training and raising money for a great cause, I also want to encourage people to get moving and be active. There a many benefits to exercising – being able to eat what you want is just one of them J
Check back often for updates on what I am eating at McDonalds and how far I am running each day. My challenge will begin on September 8, 2011. In the meantime, “Like” me on Facebook: www.facebook.com/mcrunnerette.
Please join me on this journey and help me to raise $10,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities by donating via this link: http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/mcrunnerette/longbeachmarathon. I also encourage you to volunteer your time, if possible, at your local Ronald McDonald House.
Thank you in advance for your support!
